Unleashing my linguistic talent
Description

Exploring the unknown world and my position became the starting point of my overseas exchange journey. The day I lived in a foreign country inspired me the advantage of being multilingual, as well as the important role of language in exploring the world. During the years, I've been to Russia, Brunei, Estonia, and the Netherlands. The trip to Moscow State University in Russia was a great incentive to drive me enrolling for language courses at the HKUST Center for Language Education. The reality was that, in Russia, it was a great barrier to under the local culture without speaking in their language. This thought indeed hit me, and later unleashed my linguistic potentials and started to learn Japanese, Spanish, and German. And I was supported by Overseas Learning Experience Scholarship to study Russian in Estonia, and self-learnt Dutch.

Uncovering unlimited possibilities
Description

As a HK representative of rope skipping, the student athlete scholarship enabled me to develop both academic and athletic life. On the other hand, the exchange to Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus in Netherlands brought me a world of friends, practiced cross-cultural communication and absorb the advantages of different culture. After getting back to HK, I engaged myself in various internship opportunities, applying what I have learnt. During my HA internship, I designed the solution with the team to improve the sampling process of the laundry department. Another experience at a sports brand company allowed me to try on setting sales strategies and designing a sales skills training for staff.

A brand-new work life abroad
Description

I never imagined that I could be so lucky to get the chance to work abroad after graduation. The university experience played a vital part in this positive outcome. My work in a multinational digital marketing firm in Malaysia requires not only the knowledge on the books. In particular, my exchange days in Brunei and exposure to the Muslim culture gained an impressive score during the interview. Thinking back my HKUST days, I sincerely encourage all of you to explore yourself more and get tastes of life through experiences. With this in mind, I am convinced that you can also lead a very different university life of your own.
